What type of Box and Amp for TWO Alpine 12" Type R Subs?
I've been very interested in Alpine's Type R's, and am about to purchase two 12" 4-ohm subs. Im somewhat new to car stereo and want to know which box (make, ported? sealed?) and which amp (multi channel? make? wattage?) would be best suited for these subs. I want an amp that will send between 500-600 wats to each sub, to be more specific. Thanks a lot.
It all depens on youre prefrence and what you are listening to. Do you want SQ (sound quality) or SPL (sound pressure level)?Aside from sealed which takes up the least ammount of space and has the clearest bass it may not be as loud as a ported but ported or bandpass enclosures are larger and dont produce as good of quality sound and have the potential of damaging the subs but may be recomended for heavy rock or metal If you are just looking for volume and have a large suv id suggest experimenting with a t-line enclsure if you have 2 subs and build it proporly it will double the air pressure making it seem like there are 4 subs. (Very large) as for the amp you should use I dont know of any brands but if you want 5-600watts each you will need either 2 single channel 1000-1200watt amps with edleast 500w RMS X 1 or a 2000w 2ch amp with 1000w RMS either way big bucks.
