What is the difference between a Surge Protector and an electronic voltage regulator?
Which one is better? What do each one do?
A Surge Suppressor limits overvoltage conditions, typically in the AC power feed to your equipment or your house. It can do nothing about low voltage conditions. An electronic voltage regulator maintains a steady, set voltage. It doesn't let the voltage go over or below that required. It's generally DC but it can be AC as well. It's used mostly to maintain voltages in electronic equipment for correct operation of that equipment and is usually a part of the equipment. Another name for electronic regulator is regulated power supply.
