Should I switch from electric guitar to bass guitar?
I play guitar for almost 2 years and I'm beginning to lean towards bass but I'm not sure... I would play both but I already have 2 guitars (one accoustic one electric)
It seems that guitar is more "fun" because you're in the spotlight and you play fun riffs but what about bass? Any plus sides to play bass instead? Is there such a huge difference that I shouldn't switch?
It's all a matter of what role you want to play in the band and what instrument you prefer. I play both, but I personally prefer to play bass with others. I just like the feeling of playing the lower frequencies and laying down a foundation for everyone else to work off of.
It isn't really that much different than a guitar. You just need to get used to the different playing style and differences in the size of the instrument. Also be sure to keep in mind that you are playing a bass and not a guitar. A lot of good songs have bass solos, but it is not always necessary (nor expected of you) to take the spotlight.
