What is wrong with the starter system in a 2001 Ford Focus ZX3?
The car would not start. No symptoms leading up to that point. Next day, it started right up. Got it home, wouldn't start. Solenoid clicks. Battery is good. Removed starter motor and had it tested at auto parts store, starter turned over. Cleaned all contacts and put starter/solenoid assembly back in car. No start, just click. Security system light indicates it is not active. Going to go at it with a multimeter this weekend. Any suggestions welcome.
click is loud or faint ,,make sure because you might just be hearing a relay click..
check your shifter or clutch switch,jiggle when it s happening
put voltmeter on different location on the starting circuit,leaving the negative lead on top of battery negative terminal,this is to check for possible loose connection,and could only be done when the problem is happening
