This Distress Signal Flare Gun Will Last Days Instead Of Seconds, With No Fire

After more than a century, the conventional flare gun might be on its way to fizzling out. Used primarily as a distress signal, the gun that shoots fire is slowly being replaced by LED and laser technology. Flare guns should never be used on the ground, because there is the chance of starting a fire. Its main purpose is for signaling at sea or between aircraft. Some believe it is used to find people that are lost. Actually it is more for locating people that are already in the general area who can't be seen because of fog or darkness. The flare itself, only last for as long as the height the gun can shoot. It is for this reason that modern technology will someday make the flare gun obsolete. I think if it wasn't for the fact that LED and laser were so cost prohibitive, it would have already happened.

A simple automotive flare, for example, could be replaced by beautiful LED flares if not for the cost. These modern flares are UL approved and can withstand being run over by a truck. At almost $40.00 each however, the average person will stay with having a handful of fire flares in their trunk.

As far as the outdoors, laser light technology has come along way. It too is quite expensive. Although, with emergencies where this type of device would be utilized, peoples lives may be at risk. These laser signaling devices can be used both by boaters and campers as a distress signal. The cost will vary depending on if you prefer spending about $100.00 for nighttime rescue or $250.00 for daytime. Reviews have been mostly positive, accept for two concerns. First, they are not signaling devices. They merely project a beam of light in the sky. The second and perhaps most relevant issue is that like a GPS unit if you get separated from the party that has it, the laser does you no good. So if dad has control of the device, and his teenage son wanders off and gets lost, searchers can locate dad but what about his son?

I have come up with a very simple and cost-effective answer to all these concerns. It even has a 12" solar light rope for night rescues. In this day and age of electronics, it's refreshing to find something that is completely mechanical. There are no batteries or bad reception to worry about.

Anyone venturing into the wilderness; campers, hikers, backpackers, and rock climbers, will want either the "Belt" or "Vest" as part of their everyday gear.

The LifeTracker Belt ... 4" wide with pockets on the outside to store a thermal blanket and other survival supplies.

The LifeTracker Vest... Using the same concept as the "Belt" the vests inner side unzips to release a folded lean-to tent complete with telescopic 3 ft poles. Some people will prefer a vest and are willing to pay extra for the complete survival package. This offers a great option, and like the "Belt", is very marketable.

We only have to look at current news events to see where The LifeTracker Flare Gun could have been used, resulting perhaps in a life saving outcome.

A family was driving home through the backwoods near the Oregon border and became lost. After 2 days, the father left his family to go for help. The family was found two days later by searchers and the body of the father was discovered the next day. It was uncovered that they had turned down a logging road that should have been fenced off, and ran out of gas. If they had the LifeTracker Flare Gun, for example, as soon as they ran out of gas they could have shot off the balloon and been found by rescuers before the father left his family. Everyone would have been saved in a timely manner with a lot less man hours.

In October of 08 the body of the famous adventurer Steven Fossett was found at Mammoth Lake, Ca. His small plane had gone down, and he was missing for over a year. If he were alive when he crashed and had a LifeTracker Flare Gun, he might have been saved. The LifeTracker flare gun could eventually be mandated for all small planes.
