Amps/resistance/volts problem?
A client describes for you a circuit over the phone "A six ohm resistor and the ten ohm resistor is in parallel with a fifteen ohm resistor. The whole combinations connects across a six volt supply. A voltmeter measures the potential difference across the smallest resistor and an ammeter measures the current through the largest resistor."
What readings should the voltmeter give?
The answer is 3 volts but i have absolutely no idea how to do this. Any help at all is appreciated. Thanks 
first of all draw the circuit as described. then, count the equivalent resistance of the two parallel resistor
1/R =1/10 + 1/15
R= 6ohm
together woth the another 6 ohm in series, the total resistance is 12 ohm
then goes to V=IR
current = 3/12 = 0.25A
in this case, the current across a circuit in series is always the same. so the current across the 6 ohm is 0.25A, there fore it's voltage is given by V=IR as well
you will get V= 0.25 x 6 = 1.5 V
we know that in series circuit, voltage is divided, there fore the parallel part make by the 10 ohm and 15 ohm will get voltage of 3-1.5 = 1.5V
across the 15 ohm, the current read by the ammeter is given by I = V/R = 1.5/ 15 = 0.1A
